Michael Zvalo, Charter Captain

Michael steps on board M/Y M3 for the commercial operation during charter season. Michal graduated with Business and Hotel management degree but brings extensive worldwide expedition cruising experience to the program. He was fortunate to circumnavigate the world several times with extensive cruising around North America, Pacific North West, South America, Mediterranean, Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Southeast Asia, South Pacific, and Micronesia. During this time he logged over 125 000 nautical miles and acquired great nautical knowledge and problem solving skills while maintaining the highest standard of service possible.

Michael is a passionate photographer in his free time and if you won’t find him outdoors, he would be working in the garage on his car project.

2nd Captain / First Officer – Toby Smith

Our First Officer Toby Smith is from Melbourne, Australia. He joined yachting in 2009 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Before yachting, he spent his time snowboarding and travelled between Canada and Australia doing back-to-back winter seasons.

While on yachts, Toby has spent time working all over the Caribbean, the US East Coast and the Mediterranean. Toby’s first position in yachting was on M/Y Kaleen where he worked his way up from Deckhand to Mate. After leaving Kaleen, he joined the Private/Charter yacht, M/Y Quantum of Solace, and travelled throughout the Bahamas, the East Coast of US and spent summers in the Mediterranean. His next position took him to North Palm Beach where he worked as First Officer on M/Y Mine Games until the boat sold in fall of 2013. Toby joined the crew of M3 in November of 2013.

In his free time he enjoys playing golf, surfing, snowboarding and staying active.

Matt Brown, Chief Engineer

Mathieu is the engineer aboard M3. He was born in Vancouver BC, Canada and raised between Canada and France. He speaks both English and French fluently. Mathieu became an engineer in the yachting industry to fulfill two of his favorite things in life: travel and fixing things. Other hobbies and activities include photography, hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, paddle boarding, kite-boarding and in general, just learning. His current big endeavor is building his VW camper van for a world-wide trek. He is seldom seen as his role aboard the vessel is to keep the boat in a safe and operable manner, requiring his work to be done behind the scenes. Mathieu is available anytime you have any technical issues or you would like to take a tour of the engine room.

Maren Hinske, Chief Stewardess

Maren grew up in Muenster, Germany. After finishing High school Maren travelled to Australia where she spent five months travelling along the East Coast. This was also when she discovered her passion for travelling and foreign countries. Therefore, she moved to Hamburg, Germany where she started an apprenticeship in a travel agency. Since Hamburg is a maritime city, she first came into contact with Motoryachts. After finishing her apprenticeship in 2011 she started working on Motoryachts, doing several seasons in the Mediterranean Sea. In 2013 Maren decided to go back to school and studied Tourism Management at the London Metropolitan University. After she successfully graduated, Maren started working in the Sales and Marketing department of the Tour operator, CRD International. In 2015 Maren felt the urge to go back to Sea and worked on Motoryachts in the Caribbean. In her free time she likes Basketball, Horse riding and all kind of watersports.

Jamie Bredenkamp, 2nd Stewardess

Jamie grew up in the inland city of Johannesburg, South Africa. After school she studied event management and worked in the industry for 3 years. She was always drawn to the ocean and took every chance she could to travel down to the coastlines of SA. She traveled to Europe on holiday in 2014 and this sparked a great interest in traveling abroad, she decided she wanted to see as much of the world as possible. With her pull to the ocean and passion for traveling it seemed an obvious choice to work in the yachting industry. When she has time on her hands she enjoys water sports, fitness and experiencing as much of her surroundings as possible. It’s always her pleasure to make people happy and comfortable

Justin Cummings, Bosun

Coming from a small town in South Africa, I became addicted to the salt life and outdoor adventures; primarily fishing, competitive power-boat racing and multi water sports activities. Traveling and working around remote cost lines, and islands, super yachts adds great value to the growth of my passion and it is fueled in all departments/areas.

I am a highly motivated, results-driven individual and take pride in the details be that a project, team and/or organization within industry. Both of these areas are met with dedication and providing top shelf service to all guests aboard.

Stephen Du Preez, Deckhand

Growing up in Durban I had both my parents as commercial fishermen which sparked my interest in the ocean and fishing at quite a young age, as I grew a little older I started pursuing a professional career in body-boarding and competed at the highest level in south Africa and abroad. In my spare time I would do a lot of free-diving, spearfishing, fishing with a bit of indoor soccer on the side.

Coming into the yachting industry I have had nothing short of a good time, the industry is well suited to my lifestyle as I get to do all the things I’ve grown up doing with a good team aboard M3 which would result in you always seeing me being the happiest guy around.
